Recommendations for Sensory-Friendly Costumes for Toddlers?
Hello everyone,
As part of ongoing efforts to improve comfort and accessibility for young children, I’m researching sensory-friendly costume options for toddlers, particularly those suitable for events like themed play therapy, school dress-up days, or child-friendly holidays.
We’ve noticed that many standard fancy dress costumes can be restrictive, itchy, or made with harsh synthetic materials that are uncomfortable for sensitive skin. I’m looking for suggestions from pediatric professionals, occupational therapists, or parents on what fabric types, fasteners, or design elements to prioritize when selecting or recommending costumes for young children.
My small business, The Fancy Dress, has begun exploring softer fabrics, adjustable seams, and minimal tags in our toddler fancy dress range, but we’re open to any medical or child care feedback to ensure we’re supporting inclusivity and sensory needs better.
Any insight or clinical experience you can share would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.— Team at The Fancy Dress https://thefancydress.co.uk
