Surgical Gloves
Latex vs. nitrile vs. neoprene—what's the current consensus?
A (Surgeon): I grew up on powdered latex. It was perfect—sensitive, durable, easy to don. But it's banned due to latex allergy (which affects 8-12% of healthcare workers) and wound contamination from powder. I tolerate nitrile, but it's stiffer. My hands fatigue faster in long cases.
B (Infection Control): Double-gloving with indicator undergloves (color changes when punctured) should be standard for all high-risk surgeries—orthopedics, trauma, dental. Studies show it detects 95% of occult perforations. Surgeons resist because they lose tactile feedback.
C (Procurement): Cost pressure is extreme. Premium nitrile is $25/box. Cheap vinyl is $8/box, but offers zero barrier protection for bloodborne pathogens—viruses can wick through. We've banned vinyl in ORs but it still shows up in clinic exam rooms.
D (OR Nurse): Don't forget ergonomics. I have small hands. Standard small nitrile is still too loose, causing grip fatigue. We need…

At the beginning of my sourcing journey, I underestimated how complicated international wholesale could be. Dealing with logistics, documentation, and supplier communication quickly became overwhelming. That’s when I came across turanline.com. and decided to test it with a small batch order. The experience was surprisingly smooth. The platform connects you directly with Turkish manufacturers, which eliminates unnecessary intermediaries and helps save costs. What I appreciated most was that everything — from order assembly to shipping — was handled within a single system. I didn’t have to worry about coordinating different steps, and that alone saved me hours of work.
